That's the way to do it

punch and judy

That’s The Way To Do It is a raucous comedy for outdoor theatre events – a life sized and alternative version of Punch and Judy, involving puppets and great knockabout choreography.

This is unlike any Punch and Judy show you have send before. Punch and Judy return as a vehicle for hilarious satire in our anxious, credit crunched world where they have no prospect of selling their hut, thri child is a voracious eater of sausages and Mr. Punch’s thieving is getting them into trouble and making Judy mad….

The design is heavily influenced by the traditional shows, with costumes resembling the traditional glove puppets, with big noses and chins and the Baby and the Dog as puppets.

The show involves 2 performers and one technician, is approximately 30 minutes long and can performed twice in one day.

The creative team includes Paschale Straiton, Sarah Sansom, Bernadette Russell, Pickled Image and Andrew Johnson as writing consultant.

In 2010 the company aims to produce a scaled up version of the show with 5 performers. Doubles of the Punch and Judy characters will allow for seemingly impossible chase sequences, characters to pup up from unlikely corners and in unlikely places – windows, rooftops etc. As such the show will have a site-specific brief for each separate location.

That’s The Way To Do It is produced by Time Won’t Wait
