Nature Calling!

This place calls to me is a creative project commissioned by North Devon Coast National Landscapes as part of Nature Calling a national season of art which has been happening across 2025. This project involves Paschale Straiton working in collaboration with social activator Rose Young French & photographer Olga Vynnyk.

On three successive Sundays in October – November a group of women from diverse ethnic communities will meet with nature experts and artists, to explore the wonderful habitats on Braunton Burrows and to co-create a series of portraits. Within these images we hope to capture ways in which natural spaces ‘call to us.’ They may provoke curiosity or delight, a sense of comfort or familiarity, or a sense of novelty and adventure.

Nature Calling is interested to use art to create experiences which engages new audiences with National Landscapes, highlighting the nature and landscape around them.
